A Hyderabad-based startup, Hylenr, claims to have developed a groundbreaking low-energy nuclear reactor (LENR) that could transform the way we generate energy. This innovative technology, which can fit on a tabletop, aims to meet household energy needs through cold fusion, a process similar to the sun's nuclear fusion. The company's founders announced the world’s first cold fusion technology for clean energy at a launch event in Hyderabad.

Launch of a Game-Changing Technology

The product was officially unveiled by Padma Shri Dr. Prahlada Ramarao, a renowned missile scientist and project director for the Akash missile system, along with Dr. Varaprasad, Chief Scientific Officer at Hylenr, Ram Ramaseshan, Chief Strategic Officer, and Siddharth Durairajan, Chief Executive Officer. The innovation has been patented by the Government of India, marking a significant milestone for the startup.

Harnessing the Power of the Sun

Hylenr's technology amplifies heat through nuclear fusion, where hydrogen molecules combine to produce excess heat. This heat can be utilized for various applications, including heating rooms in cold regions, induction heating for domestic and industrial use, and steam production.

Dr. Ramarao explained, "I know that the very name of nuclear fusion evokes fear among people. However, here, we are doing nothing but combining hydrogen, nickel, and palladium to make excess energy. The body of the reactor is made of stainless steel. There are zero emissions or radioactivity in the process."

Impressive Demonstration and Heat Amplification

During the live demonstration, the reactor showcased a consistent 1.5x heat amplification (150 watts equivalent heat) from a 100 W electrical input.

Dr. Ramarao emphasized, "This impressive heat amplification ratio has been the product’s defining feature during its long development process. The ratio remains the same in the hundreds of trials that we have done over the years. We had called scientists from IIT Guwahati, IISc Bangalore, and Amity University to test the product in their labs. They too received the same results." The production cost of each reactor is approximately Rs 1 lakh.

Decade-Long Journey of Innovation

Hylenr's team has dedicated the past 10 years to developing this patented technology. CEO Siddharth Durairajan mentioned, "Our team has invested the last 10 years into developing the patented technology, and we plan to further invest and raise funds to commercialize the product in an accelerated mode. The advanced research and development facility of Hylenr is located at T-HUB, Hyderabad. One more development centre is located in Electronic City in Bengaluru."

Patent and Future Prospects

The LENR technology has been patented by the Union government’s Patent Office under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry. According to the founders, LENR promises to revolutionize power generation by amplifying input electricity to produce heat for various applications, including space missions, steam generation, and induction heating.

Broad Applications and Environmental Impact

Hylenr’s technology is touted to decrease the risk profile for space missions and provide solutions for global warming and climate change.

Ram Ramaseshan, a board member, shared, "People have spent billions creating fissions, colliders, etc. to create clean energy. For us, we just used a few milligrams of hydrogen to create it. It will run for decades." Chief Scientific Officer Shree Varaprasad added, "Our goal is to further scale up LENR units for field testing and demonstration projects and partner with research institutions and labs for advanced analysis, applications, and optimization."

Collaborative Efforts and Commercialization

Hylenr is looking forward to collaborating with regulatory bodies to establish safety standards and approval processes to ensure the successful deployment and commercialization of LENR technology.

Durairajan concluded, "The proposed approach by LENR leverages it to amplify electricity from renewable and non-renewable sources, ultimately aiming for a 2.5 times power output increase, reducing the carbon footprint and not emitting any nuclear waste or radiation."

This revolutionary technology by Hylenr has the potential to redefine the future of clean energy, making significant strides toward sustainable and efficient power generation.
