New Update

Imagine being in a remote village, hours away from the nearest healthcare facility, where access to advanced diagnostics is a distant dream. A farmer worries about a sudden outbreak in his poultry farm, and a mother frets over her child’s fever with no means to confirm the cause. These scenarios reflect the everyday struggles faced by millions in India and beyond, where inadequate diagnostic tools hinder timely healthcare interventions.

This pressing need for accessible and affordable diagnostics is exactly what D-Nome Private Limited aims to address. Founded by visionary scientists Sujoy Dev and Divya Sriram, D-Nome is a deep-tech startup rewriting the rules of molecular diagnostics with its revolutionary technology, D-LAMP.

Bridging the Healthcare Gap

Sujoy and Divya’s journey began with a simple yet profound question: Why is advanced healthcare still out of reach for so many? With their extensive expertise in molecular biology and genomics, the duo identified the core problem—traditional diagnostic tools were too complex, expensive, and infrastructure-dependent to serve underserved areas effectively.

Their answer was D-LAMP, a portable, rapid, and user-friendly diagnostic solution capable of detecting infections in just 30 minutes with over 95% accuracy. Designed to work even in challenging conditions, D-LAMP operates at room temperature, bypassing the costly requirements of traditional PCR machines.

A Technology Born Out of Necessity

Healthcare in India faces a dual challenge: advanced diagnostic methods like RT-PCR remain prohibitively expensive, while simpler alternatives often compromise on accuracy. Recognizing this gap, Sujoy and Divya set out to create a solution that was both reliable and affordable.

"Our goal was to make cutting-edge diagnostics accessible to everyone, regardless of location or resources," shares Divya.

The result is a tool so versatile it’s not only revolutionizing human healthcare but also making waves in veterinary and aquaculture diagnostics. This adaptability ensures that D-LAMP can address a wide spectrum of diagnostic needs, from detecting zoonotic diseases to preventing losses in poultry farming.

Transforming Agriculture with Partnerships

One of the standout applications of D-LAMP lies in its collaboration with Srinivasa Farms, a leader in poultry genetics. Together, they are tackling the pervasive issue of disease detection in poultry—a sector often overlooked in mainstream healthcare discussions.

“Farmers face devastating losses due to delayed or inaccurate diagnostics. With D-LAMP, we’re aiming to change that," says Suresh Chitturi of Srinivasa Farms.

By enabling rapid and accurate disease detection, this partnership ensures healthier livestock and economic stability for rural farmers.

Empowered by NASSCOM CoE

The journey to innovation is rarely a solitary one. For D-Nome, the support of the NASSCOM Center of Excellence (CoE) for IoT and AI was pivotal. Virtually incubated at this hub of technological innovation, the startup gained access to invaluable mentorship, cutting-edge resources, and a vibrant network of industry leaders.

"The CoE helped us navigate critical challenges, refine our technology, and scale effectively," Sujoy acknowledges.

Over three years, this support system played a crucial role in transforming D-Nome’s vision into reality, proving the immense value of collaborative ecosystems in driving impactful innovation.

As D-Nome prepares for field deployment, its ambitions extend far beyond India. From remote African villages to underserved urban communities worldwide, the potential applications of D-LAMP are limitless. Its ability to deliver accurate results without elaborate infrastructure positions it as a game-changer for global healthcare.

“We’re building more than a diagnostic tool; we’re laying the foundation for equitable healthcare," emphasizes Divya.

The versatility of D-LAMP opens avenues for its use during pandemics, in chronic disease management, and even in ensuring food safety across supply chains.

Inspiring a Movement

D-Nome’s story is a testament to what’s possible when science meets purpose. Sujoy and Divya’s unwavering commitment to democratizing healthcare serves as an inspiration for entrepreneurs and changemakers worldwide. With field trials set to begin and partnerships expanding, the impact of their innovation is only beginning to unfold.

In the words of Suresh Chitturi, "This is just the start. The possibilities are endless.” Through its revolutionary technology and mission-driven approach, D-Nome is not just solving problems—it’s shaping the future of diagnostics.
